The Hayes Company is very proud to celebrate 40 years in business. When the company was founded in 1978, I didn’t realize the journey on which business ownership and this industry would take me.
When I was young I knew I wanted to own my own business. I think it was the idea of leading a team and an organization. It could have been because I saw my dad run a business. Whatever the reason, I knew it was a path I would follow.
My first experience in the insulation industry was working for Maddox Insulation. After graduating from college, I was interested in relocating to Kansas City. A friend’s family owned the company and after one interview, I was hired. I started off installing insulation and moved into sales. Working as an installer helped throughout my insulation career. It helped me understand the issues installers face and much more.
About a year after I started in the industry I was given the opportunity to run a branch that my employer had recently acquired. This opportunity fueled my drive to own my own company. After a couple more steps on the journey, along with some business partners, Hayes Insulation was founded in 1978. In 1984 I became sole owner.
Today, The Hayes Company serves customers throughout the Kansas City Metro area. We offer a variety of products in addition to insulation including fireplaces, shower doors, mirrors and glass along with closet shelving. I’m honored that some of my children and other family members work in the business. It’s exciting to see where the company is heading and the impact it has on our employees, my family and the community.
